Online Carers’ Support Group

State-wide

This group is run by the social workers from Huntington Disease Service.

It meets monthly to provide support and education for people who are caring for a partner, family member or friend with HD.

The group of up to 8 carers provides a safe and welcoming environment to talk about the challenges of caring.

ACT support

Family Support Group

Originally self-managed by the ACT HD community, this group is now under the auspices of the Association. We are most grateful to Karen who did organise the bi-monthly lunches.

This is a peer social group for anyone connected to a person living with HD in the ACT area.

The group meets bi-monthly on the 1st Saturday of that month.

This region have been running since 2010. They are a great support and social network that meet up in different forms.

Fundraising and awareness

People from this region are regular faces at the local Walk 4 Hope and their social connections assist with radio promotions, and editing the Walk 4 Hope promotional video.

Their affiliated social golf club turns on a fun annual Huntington’s day.

They also run memorable Wine and Shopping tours.

Rachael Brooking and HD Awareness Orange were recognised by Philip Donato MP, Member for Orange, for raising public awareness of HD and distributing an information pack to educate local medical and healthcare professionals.
