90 years old and celebrating life

The Matriarch of Team Haddy recently turned 90. Each year Team Haddy join us for the Walk 4 Hope at Parramatta and get together with many of their family members.

Robyn Russell said Our Mum, Pauline Hadfield, turned 90 on January 25th. Despite being a little reluctant at first, she soon warmed to the idea of having a celebration when she realised it was a good excuse for a long overdue family reunion. People travelled from interstate to attend.

Mum is the eldest of eight children, six of whom are still alive; five were present at the party. Mum of course has five children and we were all there, along with our families! It was a wonderful day and a fit-ting way to celebrate Mum’s life. We really feel blessed to have Pauline as our mum and the matriarch of our extended family.

Summer Foundation report on effective housing and support models

Published date: 19 July, 2022

People with Huntington’s disease require high levels of specialised care in order for them to manage daily living tasks. Specialised housing for people with Huntington’s disease in Australia is limited. This is in part due to a lack of funding and in part due to a lack of appropriate facilities. For many people, this means that their only option is to live in residential aged care (RAC). Living in RAC is generally not appropriate given that the environment often has a lack of age-appropriate activities, and social interaction.
